Hospital Visit

Chapter Two

Something didn't feel right, and Shizuo could feel it deep down inside of him. The whole thing seemed like some sort of set up. Sitting out in front of the hospital, Shizuo was still trying to wrap his mind around the whole thing. Was it a hit? No, this seemed like an amateur with the way that the gun was held and where the location of the wound was. It wasn't just once that Izaya was hit, it was twice. One in his leg and the other was into Izaya's gallbladder. They had to do surgery in order to remove both bullets of course and to sew up the wounds. This would slow Izaya down for sure, but yet why did Shizuo care? He could kill the flea now if he wanted.

But still, what was this feeling that Shizuo was getting? Simply shrugging it off, Shizuo put his cigarette out before finally entering the hospital. Already he could feel the guilt almost seeping in. It was bugging him, more than what the flea normally did to annoy him. But either way, Shizuo had gotten the information where Izaya was staying at. It was around the highest room that had a good view of the street below. So at least Izaya had that.

Though it would seem like the ideal way for Izaya to recover, his was far too sore with his back, leg, and stomach to even bother looking out at people for once. He wanted to play with Shizuo some more, play a bit of mind games, but it seemed like that would have to be put on hold. Why was it that even if Shizuo would be stuck with a bullet, he would still be able to move? Yet with Izaya, a bullet put him out for a while?  "Shizu-chan, really is a monster." Izaya muttered to himself as his leg was wrapped up tightly under the blanket with a large red spot from the blood and his stomach was wrapped up as well. He refused to wear a hospital gown since he felt like he was weak wearing it.

The sky seemed to have been a mixture of dark clouds and patches of the night sky. Though because of all the lights, there were hardly any stars visible. This was fine with Izaya since he wasn't the type to like that type of thing. The IV was hooked up into his right arm, filling his body up with morphine so that he wouldn't feel the pain as much. It left a bitter taste in his mouth that he could not get rid of. At least he was in a room by himself and not having to deal with an annoying neighbor asking him things.

It seemed liked a peaceful night in his room before there was sound of footsteps that seemed to be more scuffing on the ground rather than the pitter patter of high heels that was from the nurses. There was a light scent of cigarette smoke. "Shizu-chan." Izaya muttered to himself before the door seemed to open. Indeed, it was Shizuo, the strongest man in all of Ikebukuro. "Well, well. If it isn't Shizu-chan. And what do I have the honor of a monster such as yourself coming to give me a visit? I figured that you would be celebrating with a couple of your friends by now." Izaya remarked as a low growling could be heard coming from Shizuo.

"Shut up!" Shizuo snapped as he walked over to Izaya and punched him in the jaw, not with his strength of course, but enough to leave a nice sized welt on the dark haired male's cheek. "Idiot, what did you get yourself into this time? Why did someone try to shoot you? Who shot you?" Shizuo asked as he looked at Izaya through his blue shades.

"Who knows why someone tried to kill me. Whoever it was, their shoot was lousy. They could have aimed for my heart, a lung even. Or they could have made it quick and easy and shot me in the he-"

"Shut up! Don't say things like that." Shizuo replied as he clenched his fists tightly. He didn't want Izaya saying things like that. For some reason, Shizuo didn't want anyone but himself hurting Izaya. He gazed at Izaya's face and noticed that on his cheek, there was a band aid that covered the scratch caused by him.

Just seeing that, it caused the guilty feeling from before to slowly sink in. "You better not die from this you damn flea." Shizuo muttered before he sat down in the chair that was provided by hospital. "I won't stand for it. I won't stand for someone else killing you." Shizuo remarked before taking off his blue sun glasses.

Izaya was truly surprised by what Shizuo was saying. Of course his cheek was burning a bit due to getting a fist smashed into it, but the morphine was taking its course and started to work on the pain. But still it was very odd to see Shizuo acting this way. Did he really think that he would die simply from being shot? Well, Shizuo would be able to heal quickly so this would make things a bit easier for Shizuo to live a normal life. "Well, Shizu-chan. It seems like when I am stuck here, you will be able to live a normal life. I won't even know where you are. So enjoy the time that you have, because when I recover, I'll have to make up for lost time." Izaya replied with a light grin on his face, as though showing Shizuo his declaration in a sense.

Seeing that grin, somehow gave Shizuo the peacefulness that he needed. "Tch, not unless I kill you first you damn flea." Shizuo replied as he got up from the chair. "And you better get well soon because I don't want you thinking that you can win. Because next time, I will kill you myself and I won't be having some snot nose trying to land a lucky shot on you." Shizuo replied with his own sneer back as though saying to Izaya that he was accepting his challenge.

Not wanting to spend more time in the same room with Izaya, Shizuo got up and left, leaving Izaya in the darkness as he headed out. There was still the question of who and why? Was it even Izaya that they were after? Maybe it could have been him that they were trying to come after. But who would be that stupid? One thing is for sure, whoever finds him first, that person is going to be dead either way.
